Our story

Built by those who lived the gap.

ReiSpace is a Black-owned, clinically governed, AI-enabled mental health platform that translates evidence into continuous, culturally responsive care. It was built not as an incremental improvement to existing programs, but as a fundamental reimagining of what wellness support looks like when it is designed by and for the communities it serves.

ReiSpace was born inside Canada's public wellness infrastructure.

ReiSpace was born inside Canada's public wellness infrastructure, created by providers who already deliver culturally responsive therapy across justice and organizational systems. We're digitizing what's proven to work.

Latoya Reid's lived experience as a Black mother advocating for her son and for marginalized communities directly informed the founding of ReiSpace. After over 10 years of providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive care through ReiDefine Wellness, she and co-founder Alric Reid saw the same gap everywhere: people who needed care most were the least likely to receive care that reflected who they are.

That gap is especially acute for Black, Indigenous, other racialized and marginalized communities, including 2SLGBTQIA+ populations and language minorities such as the Francophone community. These are the communities ReiSpace was built to serve, not as an afterthought, but as the reason for its existence.

Every feature, every algorithm, every piece of content reflects a simple premise: wellness care should reflect who you are, not erase it.

"We built ReiSpace because we lived the gap: the moment you realize the system wasn't designed for you, and you have to choose between your wellness and your sense of self."

The gap we're closing.

Canada's population is the most diverse in its history. Yet the mental health infrastructure supporting that population, including wellness platforms, digital tools, and therapy directories, was designed for a narrow demographic and has never fundamentally evolved.

The result is a 3–5% utilization rate industry-wide. For people from multilingual, multicultural, and multi-faith backgrounds, even lower. The gap is not awareness. It is relevance, trust, and cultural safety.

The need is documented. The solution now exists.

These are not aspirational statements.

They are the operational commitments that shape every product decision, every clinical framework, and every hire.

Cultural humility over cultural competence

We are always learning. Cultural competence implies mastery. Cultural humility acknowledges that learning never ends and that communities are the experts on their own healing.

Nothing about us without us

The communities most affected by wellness disparities shape what we build. Community input is not a checkbox. It is the architecture.

Healing is collective

Western wellness models isolate healing to the individual. We recognize that healing is intergenerational, communal, and inseparable from culture and identity.

Decolonial by design

We do not retrofit diversity onto Western frameworks. We build from the ground up with anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded principles at every layer.

Transparency over performance

We say what we mean. We name what we see. We do not dress up systemic failures in corporate language.

Rest is productive

Burnout is not a badge of honor. We build a platform that honors the whole person, and we run our organization the same way.

From lived experience to enterprise platform.

ReiSpace did not start in a boardroom. It started with Latoya Reid providing care to communities that traditional systems had failed. Over 10 years of culturally responsive practice that refused to accept the status quo as inevitable.

  1. Clinical foundations laid

Latoya Reid begins providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive care to Black residents and marginalized communities. The lived experience that would become the foundation of ReiSpace.

  2. ReiDefine Wellness founded

Formalizing over a decade of clinical and community work into a practice dedicated to culturally responsive therapy across justice and organizational systems in Saskatchewan.

  3. Expanded to Ontario and Alberta

Growing demand from marginalized communities reveals the scale of the gap. ReiDefine Wellness expands its reach while the vision for a technology platform begins to take shape.

  4. ReiSpace concept developed

Latoya and Alric Reid formalize the vision: a comprehensive, culturally grounded wellness platform, built to close the gaps that traditional systems have never addressed.

  5. Platform development begins

Seven proprietary technologies developed: ReiGuide™, ReiMatch™, ReiVoice™, ReiSignal™, ReiCareShield™, ReiClaim™, and ReiClinical Academy™. DIVERT research validates the market need.

  6. Enterprise-ready platform

Platform achieves 9.5/10 enterprise readiness score across all dimensions. Full Canadian privacy compliance, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and four dedicated portals completed.

  7. Early onboarding opens

ReiSpace opens early onboarding for organizations across Canada. 22 languages supported. A culturally grounded wellness platform enters the market.

Built on a Foundation of Canadian Research

ReiSpace was developed in response to well-documented gaps in Canada's mental health system. The need for what we've built is confirmed by peer-reviewed research and federal health initiatives, including the CIHR-funded DIVERT Mental Health platform, a national training program at York University dedicated to digital, inclusive, and equitable mental health care.

DIVERT identifies the same structural gaps ReiSpace was built to close: racialized and immigrant employees face disproportionate barriers to mental health care, while traditional wellness programs remain underutilized by the populations who need them most.

ReiSpace is not affiliated with DIVERT. We cite this research because it independently validates the problem we are solving.

Trauma-informed care codex embedded in every platform interaction
DEI and anti-bias principles validated through peer-reviewed research

11 critical equity gaps identified. ReiSpace closes all of them.
